PROJECT BREAD FOR LIFE
WHO WE ARE
Project Bread For Life
Project Bread for Life In Kitui, Kenya thousands of orphans and abandoned children, as well as some families, live in unspeakable conditions on the srreets, the victims of gross poverty and the HIV/AIDS pandemic and lack of education. We are an organization assisting the Sisters, Poor Servants of the Mother of God, (SMG) at their Kitui, and Mwingi Kenya Missions in improving the lives of these children and families. The Sisters are presently working in Kitui and Mwingi, and Kiambu, and are in the process of setting up a new center in Kitale which is near Uganda, where funds will be utilized. Today the SMG Missions are home, family, school and hospital to thousands of children and many families.
WHAT WE DO
The Impact of the SMG Mission:
The SMG Missions save the lives of hundreds of children, year after year. Without access to the Mission they are doomed to live on the streets where they starve and can be abused.
At the Missions young girls discover and rediscover the joy and pleasure of childhood without the fear of Female Genital Mutilation and arranged marriages or to work as a slave to an older man. At the Missions children realize a new family, a safe haven from the rigors of the street. Their teachers are substitute parents. They are no longer sexually abused by both older husbands and young warriors. With a university degree, professional women, especially, stand as equals, and can become part of the leaders in Kenya and raise the status of women as well as their culture.
SMG Kenya Missions
The Rapt Foundation is an efficient organization fueled by volunteers. Based on total revenue in recent years no more than 4 .6% was spent on operating expenses leaving 95.4% of donations directly benefiting orphaned children.
Teach Those, and Forever Change the World.
Sisters teach in local schools where there are large classes, no electricity, a shortage of books and teaching materials, making this a real challenge. All of the activities are possible only through the generosity from our families, friends, and people just like you! Thank you and God Bless.
WORDS OF GRATITUDE
Our Mission Being Fulfilled
A Thank you from Sr. Anne Katuva, SMG Kitui,Kenya
“Dear fr. Kanzic,
Recently we received a most welcome surprise from the RAPT foundation for the care of the children here in Kitui and also in Meru … Hospital provisions, medications, food, textbooks, and clothing for the children living with HIV/ AIDS and palliative care for children who are dying are YOUR CORPORAL WORKS OF MERCY achieved through our hands. Without you our hands would be empty and our clinics could not supply these essentials for the children of God entrusted to our mutual care….Kenya is poor in the eyes of the world, but rich in friends like you and the Love of God which you bring to us. Please accept our invitation to visit and tour the new facilities which RAPT foundation is helping to build in Kitali and over the years and which you have now so generously supplied! Our Songs and Joy and Prayers for your beautiful work will always be sung by the children of Kenya.”
Family Center, Mwingi
This family center began as a drop in center for boys. It has developed into a family center where meals and support for families and vulnerable children are provided. Drug abuse is a serious problem so classes for tiny tots, and literacy classes for adults are held daily. Families are also given seminars on parenting skills. Information and placement for housing, seeds for planting, hospital and funeral expenses etc. are distributed. Whatever the need is, it is given the best attention. These aids are given not only at Mwingi, but in all of our Missions. Parish work and activities, including youth work, and Sunday School are part of the experiences available to everyone.
Donate Time or Funding
The RAPT Foundation is grateful to all those who are connected to our mission and continue to help by donating their time and or funds. If you are interested in our volunteering at future events or donating funds towards the projects at hand please contact us.
